A clear watermark that doesn't get in the way
Visible but readable
Light grey, half-transparent text at a 45° angle marks the page without hiding what's underneath.
On every page
The watermark is placed on each page according to its own size, whatever its orientation.
Part of the page
It's written into the page itself, so it shows in every PDF viewer and when the document is printed.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use an image or logo as a watermark?
Not yet — watermarks are text only. You can type a company or brand name instead.
What does the watermark look like?
Large bold Helvetica in light grey at 50% opacity, rotated 45° across the middle of each page.
Which characters can I use?
Letters, numbers and punctuation from Western European alphabets. Characters outside that set, such as Chinese or Devanagari script, aren't supported yet.
Can a watermark be removed?
It's drawn into each page rather than added as a layer a viewer can switch off. It isn't copy protection, though: someone with a PDF editor could still remove it.
Are my files safe? Do you keep them?
Your file travels to our server over an encrypted HTTPS connection, is processed in memory, and comes straight back in the same response. It is never written to disk, nobody reads it, and nothing is kept once the request finishes. More in the privacy policy.
Is Add Watermark free to use?
Yes. Add Watermark is free, with no account to create and no software to install — open the page in a modern browser and start.
