How do I split a PDF into page ranges?
Click the scissors between the pages where one file should end and the next begin, or type the ranges separated by commas, like 1-3, 4-6, 9. Each range becomes its own PDF. To pull out a single set of pages as one document, Extract Pages is quicker.
Can I split a PDF into equal parts?
Yes. Choose Every few pages and enter how many pages each file should hold. The last file holds whatever pages are left, so a 10-page PDF split every 3 pages gives files of 3, 3, 3 and 1 pages.
Why is the download a ZIP file?
A split usually produces several files, and a ZIP delivers them all in a single download. Windows, macOS, iOS and Android all open ZIP files without extra software.
How do I put pages back together later?
Add the pages you want to Merge PDF, in the order you want them.
Can I split a PDF by chapter?
Yes, if the document has bookmarks. Split by Bookmarks makes one file for each chapter, named after its bookmark.
