Split PDF

Turn one PDF into separate files, one per page. Upload the document, split it, and download every page as its own PDF in a single ZIP.

How to split a PDF

  1. Upload the PDF

Drag the PDF onto the upload area, or click it to choose the file.

  2. Split it

Click Split PDF. Each page is saved as a separate PDF document.

  3. Download the ZIP

All the pages arrive together in one ZIP file. Open it to get the individual PDFs.

What you get when you split a PDF

One file per page

A 30-page document becomes 30 single-page PDFs, ready to send, file away or recombine however you like.

Clear file names

Each file is named after your document and its page number — report_page_1.pdf, report_page_2.pdf — so you always know which page is which.

Pages kept intact

Pages are copied out as they are, with selectable text and full-quality images, not flattened into pictures.

Frequently asked questions

Can I split out a range of pages instead of every page?

Split PDF always separates every page. To save a range — say pages 5 to 12 — as one document, use Extract Pages.

Why is the download a ZIP file?

A split produces one file per page, and a ZIP delivers them all in a single download. Windows, macOS, iOS and Android all open ZIP files without extra software.

How do I put pages back together later?

Upload the pages you want to Merge PDF, in the order you want them.

Are my files safe? Do you keep them?

Your file travels to our server over an encrypted HTTPS connection, is processed in memory, and comes straight back in the same response. It is never written to disk, nobody reads it, and nothing is kept once the request finishes. More in the privacy policy.

Is Split PDF free to use?

Yes. Split PDF is free, with no account to create and no software to install — open the page in a modern browser and start.
