Resize PDF

Resize PDF puts every page on a sheet of a new size — A4, A3, A5, Letter, Legal or your own — scaling the content to fit without stretching it. Text stays text, so it stays sharp.

How to resize a PDF

  1. Choose a PDF

Select the document whose pages you want on a different size.

  2. Pick the new size

Choose a standard sheet or type your own width and height, and decide whether to fit the whole page or fill the sheet.

  3. Download the result

Every page is scaled onto the new sheet. Check the first page, then save the file.

Change the page size, not the quality

Standard and custom sizes

A3, A4, A5, A6, Letter, Legal and Tabloid, or any size in millimetres, inches or points.

Fit or fill

Fit shows the whole page with empty space where the shapes differ. Fill covers the sheet and trims what hangs over the edge. A page is never stretched.

Text stays text

Pages are scaled, not turned into pictures, so text remains selectable and sharp. Links and form fields move with the page.

Add a margin

Keep each page at its own size and shrink the content inside a border of your choice.

Frequently asked questions

Will my text get blurry?

No. The page is scaled as drawn rather than rasterized, so text and vector graphics stay sharp at any zoom.

What happens to a page that is a different shape from the new sheet?

With Fit, the page is scaled until all of it is visible and centred, leaving empty space on two sides. With Fill, it is scaled until the sheet is covered and the overhang is trimmed. It is never stretched.

Are landscape pages turned into portrait ones?

By default a landscape page gets the same sheet turned on its side, so slides do not shrink into the middle of a portrait page. You can choose to use the sheet exactly as picked.

Does it keep print marks such as a TrimBox?

No. After resizing they would describe the old sheet, so the bleed, trim and art boxes are removed.

Is the file uploaded anywhere?

No. The document is resized in your browser and never sent to a server.

How is this different from cropping?

Cropping cuts the edges of a page away and keeps the page's scale. Resizing puts the whole page on a sheet of a different size, scaled to fit. To trim margins, use Crop PDF.

Can I put several pages on one sheet?

Yes, with N-Up PDF, which places 2, 4, 6 or 9 pages on each sheet. Resize the result afterwards if you need another sheet size.

How do I make the pages of a PDF made from photos the same size?

Make the PDF with JPG to PDF, then resize it here. Each picture is scaled to fit the sheet you choose, without being stretched.

Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No. Resize PDF runs entirely in your browser: the file is opened and processed on your own device and is never sent to our server. More in the privacy policy.

Is Resize PDF free to use?

Yes. Resize PDF is free, with no account to create and no software to install — open the page in a modern browser and start.

Choose what IwillPDF may use. You can come back and change this at any time from “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page.
