How to convert a PDF to Word

  1. Choose a PDF

Open the document and optionally select a page range, such as 1–3, 5.

  2. Pick your output

Choose editable text or original appearance. Turn on English OCR for image-only pages when you need their text.

  3. Download the DOCX

Open the result in Word or another compatible editor and review the content.

Two kinds of Word file

Two clear output modes

Editable mode rebuilds paragraphs, tables, lists, fonts, bold, italic and colour as a Word document you can change. Appearance mode includes the original page as an image.

Convert selected pages

Extract only the pages you need instead of carrying an entire report into Word.

Optional local OCR

Recognize English text on image-only pages without sending scans to a server.

Frequently asked questions

Will tables and graphics stay editable?

Tables that the PDF drew with lines, or lined up in columns, come back as real Word tables with their borders and shading, and pictures with no text over them are kept. Charts and drawings made of lines are not carried over; use appearance mode for those, or PDF to Excel when the numbers matter most.

Why is a page an image in Word?

Appearance mode deliberately uses images. An image-only page also falls back to an image if no text is available. Enable OCR to attempt text recognition.

Can I expect identical page breaks?

Not in editable mode. Word lays out flowing text differently from a fixed-layout PDF. Review paragraphs, columns, and page breaks after conversion.

Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No. PDF to Word runs entirely in your browser: the file is opened and processed on your own device and is never sent to our server. More in the privacy policy.

Is PDF to Word free to use?

Yes. PDF to Word is free, with no account to create and no software to install — open the page in a modern browser and start.
