How to convert Excel to PDF

  1. Choose your workbook

Open one or more XLSX, XLS, ODS or CSV files. The sheets are listed as soon as the file opens.

  2. Set up the page

Tick the sheets to include, fit columns to the page width, and choose orientation, paper, margins, cell borders and a repeated header row.

  3. Preview and download

Check the page previews for readable text and sensible page breaks, then download.

Layout options and limits

No more columns on page 12

All columns on one page width scales each sheet to fit across the paper while long sheets continue downwards, the way Excel's own Fit to 1 page wide does.

Only the sheets you want

Untick internal or working sheets and they are left out of the PDF. Hidden sheets never print.

Readable on every page

Repeat the first row on every page, show cell borders and row and column headings, and center the sheet.

Smart orientation

Automatic orientation turns sheets too wide for portrait to landscape and leaves the rest upright.

Frequently asked questions

How do I fit an Excel sheet on one page in a PDF?

Every column fits on one page width by default (Fit to page: All columns on one page width), and long sheets continue downwards. Choose Whole sheet on one page for short sheets, or As saved in the workbook to keep the workbook's own scaling and page breaks.

How do I convert only some sheets?

Untick the sheets you want to leave out under Sheets to include. The workbook itself is not changed.

Why is the text very small?

Fitting a large sheet onto one page shrinks it. Use All columns on one page width instead, so long sheets flow onto more pages at a readable size.

Will formulas stay editable?

No. The PDF contains the displayed results, not editable cells. Keep the workbook to change formulas.

Will macros and external data refresh?

No. Save the workbook with the values you want readers to see before converting.

Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No. Excel to PDF runs entirely in your browser: the file is opened and processed on your own device and is never sent to our server. More in the privacy policy.

Is Excel to PDF free to use?

Yes. Excel to PDF is free, with no account to create and no software to install — open the page in a modern browser and start.

Choose what IwillPDF may use. You can come back and change this at any time from “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page.
