IwillPDF (https://iwillpdf.com) is a set of free online PDF tools operated by Joel Thomas, an independent developer based in India. Joel Thomas is the data controller for the personal data described on this page.

This policy explains what happens to the files you put through the tools, what else we collect, and how advertising on the site works. If anything here is unclear, write to [email protected] and ask.

Your documents never leave your device. Every tool on this site processes the file inside your browser, so we never receive a copy, cannot read it, and do not use it for anything.

When you choose a file, your browser reads it from your device and the tool does its work right there, in the page. The file and the result are not sent to our server, a database or a storage bucket. We also offer the same operations as an API for developers; a file sent to that API is processed in memory, returned in the same response, and not retained once the request finishes.

Two consequences worth knowing:

• There is no file history and no way to recover a result later. Download it when it is offered.
• Because we keep nothing, there is nothing for us to hand over, lose in a breach, or be asked to delete.

You can check this yourself in your browser's network panel, and the offline page has a test you can run on a file of your own.

If a file contains personal data about someone else, you remain responsible for having the right to process it.

We keep the collection deliberately small. In normal use we collect:

• Technical request data. Like any website, our hosting provider records standard server logs — IP address, browser and device type, the page requested, and the time. These are used to keep the service running, diagnose errors and prevent abuse.
• Usage counts, with no cookie. When you leave or switch away from a page, it sends our server a short note of what happened there: which tool, how many files were added and their combined size range (such as 1–5 MB), whether the tool ran and how long it took, whether the result was downloaded or sent to another tool, your type of device (phone, tablet or computer), and the kind of site you came from (such as a search engine). It never includes your files, their names or their contents. To count how many different people use each tool, our server turns your IP address and browser details into a code with a secret key, uses it once to update a running count that cannot be traced back to anyone, and discards it; neither the address nor the code is stored. The country our hosting provider reports for your connection is added to a site-wide tally. We keep only daily totals, which we rely on our legitimate interest in improving the tools to collect.
• Usage analytics, with your consent where it is required. Google Analytics records which pages and tools are used, roughly where visitors come from, and their browser and device type. It never receives your files. See Cookies.
• Error reports. When something breaks in the page, a technical report of the error — the page, the browser, and the error message and where in our code it happened — goes to Sentry, our error-monitoring service. It does not include your documents.
• Anything you choose to send us. If you email us, we have your email address and whatever you write in the message, for as long as it takes to deal with it.

We do not require an account, and we do not ask for your name, address or payment details anywhere on this site.

We do not knowingly collect special-category data such as health or financial information. If your document happens to contain it, see the section above: we do not read or retain document contents.

IwillPDF is free to use and is paid for by advertising. We show ads supplied by Google AdSense.

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.

These advertising cookies are set by Google and its partners, not by us. We do not control what they store, and we never pass the contents of your documents, your file names, or your email address to any advertiser or ad network.

Ads are placed around the tools, never inside your file. Nothing about the document you are working on is used to select the ads you see.

Opting out does not remove ads — it means the ads you see are no longer selected using your browsing history.

A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to store. This site uses these kinds:

• Strictly necessary. iwp_consent remembers your cookie choice for a year, and iwp_region remembers for a month whether you are somewhere we must ask first. Tools also keep your options in browser storage while you use them. If you choose to save the tools for offline use, your browser also keeps copies of the site's pages and code in its cache, where a service worker serves them; no document is ever saved there, and the same page has a button that removes them. None of this needs your consent.
• Analytics. Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, sets cookies such as _ga to count visits and see which tools are used. It never receives your files or their contents.
• Advertising. Set by Google AdSense and its partners to measure and select ads, as described in Advertising.

We do not use cookies to build a profile of you, and we do not sell or share your personal data with data brokers.

Change your choice at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page. Withdrawing a choice deletes the cookies it covered. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser; none of this stops the PDF tools from working.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland — or we cannot tell where you are — we ask first. Analytics and advertising cookies stay off until you accept them, and rejecting takes one click, the same as accepting. We work out your country from what our hosting provider reports for your connection; we do not store your IP address for this.

Everywhere else, analytics and advertising cookies are on by default, and you can turn either off in Cookie settings.

Where we rely on your consent — analytics and advertising cookies in the regions above — that consent is our legal basis, and you can withdraw it as easily as you gave it. Where we process technical data to keep the service running and secure, our legal basis is our legitimate interest in operating the site.

• Your files and their results: never received when you use the site. Files sent to the developer API exist only for the duration of the request.
• Server logs: kept for a short period for security and troubleshooting, then discarded.
• Usage counts: daily totals per tool, kept for as long as they help us improve the site. They contain nothing that identifies you, so there is nothing in them to look up or delete.
• Email correspondence: kept while your query is open and for a reasonable period afterwards.
• Analytics: the _ga cookies on your device expire after up to two years unless you withdraw consent, which deletes them. The data they produce is kept by Google Analytics under the retention period set for this site.
• Advertising cookies: retained by Google and its partners according to their own policies, not ours.
• Your cookie choice: a year, then we ask again.

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) — and under the GDPR and UK GDPR if you are in Europe or the UK — you have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to object to or restrict its processing, and to withdraw consent you have given.

To exercise any of these, email [email protected]. We will respond within a reasonable time, and in any case within the period the applicable law requires.

In practice there is usually very little to act on, because we hold almost nothing about you. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority if you are not satisfied with our response.

IwillPDF is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children, and we do not serve personalised advertising to anyone we know to be a child. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Traffic between your browser and our servers is encrypted with HTTPS. Your documents are not part of that traffic: they are processed in your browser, so there is no copy on our side to be exposed.

No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Because the tools never send your document anywhere, the main risk to it is the device you open it on.

We rely on a hosting provider to serve the site, Google Analytics for usage statistics, and Sentry for error reports. Advertising is supplied by the vendors named in this policy. We do not sell personal data.

Ads and other links may take you to sites we do not control. This policy does not apply once you leave — read theirs.

We update this page whenever what we collect or how we use it changes, and the date at the top always reflects the current version. Material changes will be signposted on the site rather than made quietly.
